Training is really gearing up!

Okay, so I'm finally starting to feel a little better. Been stretching a little more, the knee isn't hurting so much and I'm up to 8 miles on my long runs. 5 more - no problem. Now I need to focus on the nutrition and strength training aspect. I know, I know, I should have been doing that all along, but busy lives makes for bad food choices. So, I've been trying to eat more fruits, veggies, and planning ahead so quick (bad) choices aren't necessary. And, now that my knee is starting to feel better, I think I'll be able to be more serious about strength training.

We have about 5 weeks to go until my half marathon, so need to really train smart from this point forward. Wish me the luck and will-power to get 'er done!

Massage - not always an Ahhhhh moment

So I went and saw Michele on Thursday. She's a fabulous neuromuscular massage therapist. Of course, it's not the type of massage that you feel relaxed and fall asleep during. Oh no, this was the type of massage that had me squealing and squirming. I think every muscle in my body must have been out of whack. Friday I was sore from head to toe. On the plus side, I feel like my muscles have been realigned and my knee is not actually hurting so bad.

I haven't gone for an actual test run yet as I took the night off after the massage because I was sore and then Friday I volunteered at school most of the day and Friday night I had my stampin' party. So, I think I'll go out for a short run/walk in a little while and see how I feel. I am supposed to do 8 miles tomorrow. We'll see how many I can get done without irregular aches and pains. Here's hoping this does the trick.

Thanks Michele - you are a miracle worker!
