The morning started out with a nice cool 61. By the time I finished my 5 miles it was up to 74. Once that sun comes up it warms up quick here in Florida. I'm still doing a slow and easy pace. I did try to add some running back into my mileage, but by the end of the 5 miles I was definitely knowing I was pushing it. Sharp pain under knee cap area - similar to a shin split pain came on when I was on my last 1/4 mile. Today was the first time I've tried my 1/1 run/walk ratio since having the MRI. I've been pretty good about doing my lunges and squats and have added some hand weights when doing them to help strengthen my quads. Seems to be doing okay, but I'm thinking I need to add more weight and a few more rounds as well as keeping with a walking routine for a while longer.
I also just received great news that I will be receiving a nice donation to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society through my TNT site. This will bring me to my minimum fundraising goal. I would really love to see me exceed that goal though my $1,000. This is my one big race for Team in Training this year and I want to make a strong effort for the cause.
This one's for you Jim! I hope you're smiling down on me on race day and give me a nudge when the going gets tough.
